The Blues were unlucky to get a first half decision against them when it seemed that Adrian Borg, the Mosta defender clearly pulled Eyenga following a great pass from Lattes. Eyenga managed to beat his man and was coming one on one with the goalkeeper however, to the surprise of many the referee gave a decision in favour of Mosta. Trevor Cilia also hobbled off, with a hamstring injury and this puts him in doubt for Sliema’s next games.
The Blues had missing the suspended Galabov, Beppe Muscat and also Ryan Fenech. Cleavon Frendo, Mark Scerri, and Andrew Decesare were also unavailable due to injuries they sustained. The Blues resources were stretched to the limit once again this season as the Sliema squad continues to see a number of regulars missing.
After Sliema took the lead, they never looked back and continued to press on for more goals. Alex Muscat was leading the charge with his numerous runs down the right flank. Dani Mitev was also very dangerous every time he received the ball. From a corner, Mitev superbly found Steve Bezzina whose side foot shot was incredibly saved by the Mosta goalkeeper.
A few minutes from time, Mosta had a player sent off when Ian Zammit was shown the red card following his persistent fouling and this time for a bad tackle on Sliema player Nikola Bogdanovic.
