Sliema vs Birkirkara Press review

Sliema Wanderers obtained a well deserved victory over Birkirkara and thus have remained unbeaten after their opening 5 matches. The whole team deserves credit from this performance as it was a collective team effort which got the Blues the points at the end of the day and this was without Danial Mitev, the Bulgarian Star, who was missing through suspension. The Malta Independent gave a comprehensive overview of this Sliema team and makes for some interesting reading.  Below are the headlines.

Timesofmalta: ‘Wanderers increase pressure on faltering Birkirkara’

Sliema Wanderers kept the pace with the front-runners after a 1-0 victory over Birkirkara who have gained only one point from their last three games.
Jerry Ani’s solitary goal might suggest that Sliema won narrowly but it is deceptive as the Blues were superior to their off-form opponents yesterday.

The Malta Independent: ‘Sliema compound B’kara’s Gloom’

Sliema deserved their win for playing the better and more attractive football, inspired by the relentless running of Roderick Bajada and Jackson Lima,as well as the enduring brilliance of lion hearted Alex Muscat who helped Ani demonstrate all his strength and mobility in the face of adversity.
