Brazilian Duo Released by Sliema
Sliema Wanderers Brazilian players Jackson Lima and Jorge Silva have been released by the club following an agreement with the players.
The Brazilian players had not trained with the club since a few days before the B'kara match and the case was going to be heard in front of the MFA. However, both parties came to an agreement and have moved on. Jorge Silva has signed for Birkirkara and Jackson Lima has gone to Hibs. |

Ryan Fenech Agrees terms to join Sliema
International midfield player and also former Sliema Wanderers FC player in season 2009-10, Ryan Fenech will be the first acquisition for the Sliema Wanderers Fc committee under President Keith Perry.
25 year old utility player Ryan Fenech will once again wear the blues jersey for the rest of this season .
During the summer 2009-10 transfer market, Ryan joined Sliema wfc from Hamrun Spartans, in which Ryan made 24 appearances with the Blues , scoring two goals.
On behalf of sliema wfc we would like to welcome back Ryan fenech and also we would like to augur the best of luck to Ryan with Sliema wfc.

Alex Muscat on the Way to Full Recovery following Knee Op
Sliema Wanderers FC captain Alex Muscat is currently recovering from a minor knee operation which was undertaken in Sicily earlier last week.
It is estimated that the Blues captain will be fighting a race against time to be fit for the crunch match the Blues have against B’kara early on in January. Alex Muscat is currently undergoing a full rehab with the physios and is also the second Blues player to have been operated on in a few weeks, after Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza was successfully operated in Germany and has already returned to full fitness.
We wish Alex a full and speedy recovery. |

Sliema Wanderers fc President Steve Abela Calls it a Day
Sliema wfc have been stunned by the unexpected resignation of President Steve Abela citing personal reasons as the main reason. Steve Abela announced his resignation after he called an extraordinary meeting for members and supporters in Sliema.
Steve Abela, was at the helm for the past 3 seasons and will be remembered for the FA trophy which he won as club President in the 2008-2009 season after defeating Valletta on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw. Many attempts have been made for Steve to reconsider his decision, but he has made it clear that his decision is final and will not seek to return. In the meantime Vice President Keith Perry, for the time being was appointed as the new acting President.
On behalf of all Sliema Wanderers FC supporters, we would like to first and foremost thank Steve for all his contribution and dedication and we also wish him and his family the best. |

Twenty one year old , attacking midfielder starlet, Miguel Ciantar, has joined newly promoted Balzan Youths on loan till the end of the season.
Creative player Miguel Ciantar will be looking to prove him self and improve his skills with minnows Balzan Youths and hopefully with more regular played football on the pitch, Miguel will return as a more complete player,On behalf of all Sliema FC, we also would like to augur the best of luck to Miguel on his new adventure. Clayton Failla`s transfer to Hibernians fc is official
After many weeks of speculations and rumors going on , now its official. Clayton Failla have been transferred to Hibernians fc.
After a disappointing two year spell with the wanderers in which Clayton Failla was the shadow of the player in which he won the title of BEST PLAYER OF THE YEAR in season 2008-09 with his former club Hibernians fc , he will reunite with his former club. Both parties agreed terms for Clayton Failla to be transferred and this included Ian Scerri`s arrival on loan to SLIEMA W. |

Sliema Wanderers FC appointed Saviour Debono Grech as their new assistant coach. The former Melita U-19 coach will be helping Danilo Doncic with the senior team. Mark Vella has also been confirmed as goalkeepers coach for another year.

Bulgarian striker Danail Mitev is the third foreign player who will wear the blues jersey and will be at the disposal of Mr Danilo Doncic for the upcoming season 2011-2012.

Sliema Wanderers FC president Steve Abela confirmed that Sliema defender Sekou Souare was released from the club and Tunisian striker Chakib Lahckhem was given a contract till the end of the season with an option to sign him for next season. Chakib Lahckhem is 25 years old and played in the Libyan first division and Tunisian first division. |

Alex Muscat resumed training
Alex Muscat resumed training this week after a long injury, Alex injured the ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) last July just before the Uefa Europa League away match against FT HNK Sibenik during a training session. He was operated on the 2nd August 2010 by Dr Martens in Belgium. Alex Muscat is expected to be fully fit by mid February if there are no major complications. We wish Alex Muscat a Speedy recovery. |

Yesterday, Sliema Wanderers FC played a friendly game against Mqabba FC at the Siggiewi Football Ground. Coach Mark Marlow had the opportunity to play the two new foreign players - Gibi and Chakib Lachkehm whom both play in a striker position. They performed very good.
